Giving Thanks!

I am sorry that most of you Meals on WHeels volunteers were not able to attend the volunteer appreciation luncheon a couple weeks ago in San Marcos. Along with the speeches, and giving thanks to what a wonderful God we serve, they also gave thanks for all you volunteers..... In addition they had a three man band that played some good music and they served a Thanksgiving dinner which I thought was appropriate, don't you.
Anyway, the most interesting thing I observed is that all the people that received letters of appreciation were churches and other organizations that band together to deliver meals.
We are the only ones in the area that I observed, there at least, that represent a whole city. We are the volunteers from the City of Kyle......now I thought that was really fascinating. That our little town of Kyle has such caring and loving people as yourselves to come out and serve the community. I say HOORAY for KYLE and THANKS TO YOU!!!!!!!!!
Hey if anyone has an in with the Kyle paper, maybe that needs to be made known> Our volunteers come from Kyle and near areas, from all walks of life, to serve the community. People who work and take their lunch time to deliver, stay at home moms with home schoolers come out and deliver, retired people are out their volunteering, people on their days off taking time out to serve. I just really think that says a lot about you!
So in the New Year, we are going to do our own Meals on Wheels appreciation in the Old renovated City Hall. Adell Hurst is working out the details with Community in Action, so I will keep you all informed. A little pizza party, I thought since we have several young people whole also ride along giving service to their community.
For other people out there reading this…. Yes we need volunteers. Meals on Wheels in Kyle currently serves lunches to about 18 families in the immediate area but we are in need of more volunteers so we can service a larger area of Kyle. For awhile now we have limited our area of service so that the volunteers would not get burned out and so that it would not be a hugh gasoline expensive on the volunteers. But now we are trying to increase the client base, more and more people are in need. So more volunteers are in need.
Meals on Wheels is affliated with Community in Action based out of Smithville . The meals come in nice and hot in big containers from Austin and Delia (our site manager) prepares the meals in individual container plates for us volunteers to deliver them to the families in Kyle. The people who receive the meals are shut in's or are limited by age, and or disability in what they can do.
Volunteers pick up the meals from Delia at 11:00am
at the Old newly renovated city hall on the square in Kyle. (on Burleson)
So come out and ride along with any of the volunteers and see if this is something you would like to do.
THANK YOU EVERYONE>
